- Assist faculty with proposals, preparation of complex budgets, and
completion of all non-technical aspects of proposals.
- Handle the finance, accounting and travel transactions for grants
and contracts.
- Provide analysis and reporting on IPST's research portfolio.
- Function as a team member of the IPST Business Office.
- Interact with Director of Administration on other categories.
- Serve as Director of Administration when appropriate.
Administrative Staff - Computer & Space Science

- Provide administrative support to faculty research groups, including
travel, proposal preparation, procurement, correspondence, visitor accommodations
(such as visa assistance, appointment paperwork, lodging accommodations,
etc.), email and computer needs, and receptions.
- Assist the general Institute with special lectures, manuscripts, travels,
special projects, web sites, etc.
*Serves as Assistant to the Director.
**Assists Burgers Program; Maintenance of IPST web site.
***Serves as Program Management Specialist to the Chemical Physics
Graduate Program administered by IPST.
Administrative Staff - IPST Building - Stacey

- Provide administrative support to faculty research groups, including
travel, proposal preparation, procurement, correspondence, visitor accommodations
(such as visa assistance, appointment paperwork, lodging accommodations,
etc.), email and computer needs, and receptions.
- Assist the general Institute with special lectures, manuscripts, travels,
special projects, web sites, etc.
*Serves as Program Coordinator
for the Biophysics Graduate Program administered by IPST.
Business Services Specialists (Payroll,
VISAs, Appointment, Benefits)
Sokhan Min (301-405-4879)
- Prepare all aspects of PHR.
- Process journals and certification cards.
- Process honorariums and fellowships, tax forms and verification letters.
- Initiate all aspects of Academic appointments in ARS. Prepare
contract letters.
- Prepare J1 and H1 visas.
- Handle all benefits: health insurance, retirement and SRAs.
- Submit tuition remission for Fall, Spring and two Summer Sessions
through ELF.
- Responsible for leave adjustments and Faculty Leave Reporting.
Patty Wynn (301-405-7881)
- Manage facilities needs for IPST including handling all work orders,
working with in-house construction on major renovations, follow-up on
daily facilities issues such as A/C, floods, key and space assignments.
- Manage the IPST Manager System involving input and update of system.
- Assist Director of Administrative Services with planning and developing
long-term facilities plans.
- Maintain records related to facilities for resource and planning.
- Manage purchasing and procurement for IPST, including ISR, RM, and
PO process. VISA card transactions - assigning proper subcode
for each purchase, allocating each charge to the appropriate account
and reconciling the actual expenditures.
- Manage the inventory process for IPST including a database and responses
to campus requests. Assist with the reconciliation process for
State accounts and for reporting to DAS.
- Supervise student workers.
- Process forms for new telephone installations and data jacks.
- Oversee distribution and/or billing of phone charges, monthly JV charges,
copy charges and cash deposits. Post appropriately to IPST Manager
System.
Communications Coordinator - Sandy Ratke

- Maintain the IPST and Burgers Program for Fluid Dynamics web sites.
Serve as consultant for changes/updates to other IPST related web sites.
- Chairs the Communications Committee at IPST.
- Serve as point-of-contact for media requests.
- Publish IPST Newsletter three times a year.
- Offer one-on-one assistance on the use of PowerPoint and effective presentations.
- Offer one-on-one assistance with publications (posters, flyers, announcements for special symposia).
- Assist with reviews (both internal and external) of IPST in 2009-2010.
Computer Systems Manager - Alfredo Nava-Tudela

- Maintain the IT infrastructure, which includes: Beowulf clusters,
Samba servers, Windows XP clients, and multiple flavor UNIX computers.
- Interaction with the Office of Information Technology (OIT), Network
Operations Center (NOC), and the College of Computer, Mathematical and
Physical Sciences (CMPS) on all issues pertaining to Information Technology
on behalf of the Institute.
- Chairs the Computer Infrastructure Committee at IPST.
- Assist faculty and staff with computer programs and needs.
- Supervises IT student workers.
Engineering Technician - Edd Cole (301-405-4867)
- Supervise the IPST Student Machine Shop.
- Make tools, parts, etc. for experimental faculty needs.
- Oversee students in the shop and assist with their training and development
process.
- Consult with faculty regarding research projects.
- Departmental in-house technician.
