Allan T. Weatherwax

Assistant Research Scientist
Institute for Physical Science and Technology

Ph.D., Physics, 1995, Dartmouth College

Research Interests: Dr. Weatherwax studies natural phenomena occurring in the Earth's atmosphere, ionosphere, and magnetosphere by using imaging riometers, magnetometers, all-sky cameras, radio receivers, and x-ray images taken by the POLAR satellite. The broad focus of this research is directed toward improved understanding of the mechanisms which couple solar processes into the terrestrial environment. These include investigations of phenomena associated with environmental effects such as cosmic noise absorption, auroral x-rays, magnetic storms and substorms, induced electrical currents, radiowave communication and interference, atmospheric composition, wave-particle interactions at ULF to HF frequencies, and space weather.
